Wide Screens and Long Line Length

This post was updated on .
Many experts claim that text becomes difficult to read when there's more than around 10-12 words on a line.

You can help make the text on your forum easier to read by ensuring that those who have very large screens and use maximised windows do not suffer the disadvantage of very long lines of text. Simply can add some CSS code to stop this happening on your forum.

Follow these steps:

1. Go to: Options > Application > Change appearance
(A formatting toolbar appears)

2. Click on the "CSS" item
(An edit box opens)

3. Insert the following code:
body {
width: 98%;
max-width: 900px;
margin: 5px auto;
}
and click on the "Apply Button"

4. Click the "Close" button on the formatting toolbar.

On wider screens your forum will never get wider than 900 pixels and any margins will automatically adjust to keep the forum contents in the centre of the screen/window.
